Another Chance For Emmy

Last Chance Ranch Animal Rescue, Inc. (LCR) is a public volunteer, non-profit (501c3) organization rescuing and rehabilitating horses and domestic companion animals. We are dedicated to promoting and educating the public to humane and responsible treatment of horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules (equines) and other domestic companion animals. LCR provides a safe and secure refuge for abused, unwanted or neglected animals. We rehabilitate the physical and psychological issues of these rescued animals and place them into new homes where they receive the love they deserve. Our follow-up program ensures their continued well being. LCR is also affiliated with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and the United States Humane Society and has educated and appointed two Humane Society Police Officers.
Emmy's Story - From the Winner's Circle to Last Chance Ranch Rescue
This auction is being offered to raise funds to offset the cost of surgery and post-care for one of LCR's horses, Emmy's Pearl. Emmy is a three year old Thoroughbred, with impressive blood lines, whose successful racing career at the Charles Town Track in WV ended abruptly when she came up lame with bone chips in both her knees. Many racing thoroughbreds with two injured knees would not have a second chance; however, at the request of her trainer, we took Emmy and decided to move forward with surgery, despite the uncertainty of what the surgeon might discover. We all believed, as her trainer did too, that Emmy is a special horse. She came out of surgery a warrior and even the surgeon and those at the clinic agree that there is something special about Emmy. Depsite the pain, she is gentle and sweet natured and this just makes us love her more! Emmy now has 4 to 6 months of rehabilitation therapy and will also need supplements and medication to help her heal. We all want to see Emmy run once again, but this time across grassy pastures. Your winning bids can make that happen! Thank you for visiting our auction and Emmy thanks you, too!
